Biography:

Dr Mark W Drummond

Consultant Haematologist | Independent Medical Expert

Dr Drummond is a Consultant Haematologist (appointed 2006) with over 25 years’ experience in clinical and academic haematology. He was based at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and Gartnavel General Hospital, 2006-2026, delivering comprehensive malignant and general haematology services within a tertiary referral cancer network. He retired from NHS practise in May 2026 but continues to work in the private sector at Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Edinburgh.

His clinical practice has included all haematological malignancies including myeloma, lymphoma, acute and chronic leukaemias, myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelodysplastic syndromes, in addition to thrombosis and anticoagulation. He runs two busy haemato-oncology clinics and two general haematology clinics weekly.

He is an experienced clinical trialist, having served as Chief Investigator or Principal Investigator on multiple UK and international studies, with publications in high-impact journals including Nature Medicine, Nature Genetics, JAMA Oncology and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

He has over 25 years’ experience in malignant and general haematology in adults and has provided independent medicolegal opinion since 2015, completing more than 300 expert reports across the UK and Ireland.
