Biography:
Jane McEachan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon with over 25 years of clinical experience in the management of complex hand and wrist conditions, including trauma, reconstruction, and degenerative disease. She is recognised internationally for her academic contributions, having published widely in peer-reviewed journals and is regularly invited to lecture at international meetings.
Jane is a current Editor of the Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume) and will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief in 2026, a prestigious appointment by her peers. She is regularly invited to review scientific papers, supervise research, and contribute to international consensus work. This background provides her with an authoritative perspective on current standards of care, evolving techniques, and the interpretation of scientific evidence.
Her medicolegal practice encompasses personal injury and clinical negligence cases, with expertise in hand, wrist and elbow trauma. She provides clear, independent, and well-structured reports with particular attention to evidence-based opinion and impartiality.

Jane has been preparing medicolegal reports since 2013 and undertakes around 70 cases each year, with a balanced instruction ratio of 40:60 claimant to defendant. Her reports are evidence-based, impartial, and clearly presented, drawing on her expertise as both a practising hand surgeon and academic leader. She has attended court to give oral evidence and is experienced in joint expert discussions and conferences.
