Consultant ophthalmologist

Biography:

AI have been a Consultant Ophthalmologist since 1997 working in the NHS and independent sectors. After experience in pathology, neurology and emergency medicine I trained as an ophthalmologist at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow, then at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham then at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. My postgraduate qualifications include MRCP, FRCS and FRCOphth. I am a former examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a former consultant adviser to the Civil Aviation Authority and the Royal National Institute for Blind People. I have an interest in occupational ophthalmology brought about by my work for the Civil Aviation Authority and I co-author the ophthalmology chapter in the Occupational Medicine textbook Fitness for Work, published by OUP. I have been providing medico-legal reports since 1997, having attended Bond Solon’s courses Excellence in Report Writing and Courtroom Skills. My LLM dissertation was on clinical negligence. I have written reviews of medico-legal ophthalmology for Health Care Risk Report and Personal Injury Focus.
