Consultant Neurosurgeon
Biography:
Calan completed his neurosurgical training in Glasgow in 2010 and spent time as the National Spinal Fellow in Leeds from 2010 to 2011. He has been a full-time neurosurgeon in the NHS since 2011. His current role involves treating head-injured patients and managing all spine-related pathologies.
He also works within the National Spinal Injuries Unit located adjacent to the department of Neurosurgery.
He is the current clinical lead in Neurosurgery in Glasgow.
Clinical Interests:
Calan performs spinal trauma surgeries regularly and is invovled in the trauma MDT meetings every week. He undertakes spinal decompressions, endoscopic work, fusions and spinal tumour surgeries.
His interests include sciatica, back pain, neck pain, myelopathy, tumours and trauma.
Medicolegal Experience:
He has 15 years of experience writing medical reports for head injuries and all pathologies involving the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. His pursuer/defender ratio is 80/20. He is a member of the Expert Witness Institute.
