Consultant Otolaryngologist/ Ear Nose and Throat Specialist
Biography:
Mr John Marshall is Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant and was based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
In addition to his general ENT practice he has a specialist interest in Ears (otology) and the Nose (rhinology).
He is experienced in writing reports relating to personal injury affecting the ears and nose.
He does not currently prepare noise induced hearing loss reports.
John has been a consultant since 1998 and qualified from Cambridge University in 1986. He was Clinical Director for ENT for Greater Glasgow and Clyde within the NHS from 2013-2023.
He was ENT advisor to the Chief Medical Officer for Scotland from 2021-2023.
He retired from the NHS in 2023 and now works full time in the private sector at Ross Hall and Glasgow Nuffield hospitals and has sessions at La Belle Forme clinic.

Clinical Interests:
My main interests are conditions of the ear and hearing, and of the nose and sinuses.
This includes the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, tinnitus and dizziness, and of nasal trauma, sinusitis and facial pain.
I perform ear surgery including myringoplasty and mastoid surgery, and nasal and sinus surgery including cosmetic rhinoplasty.
I perform audiology where required or use professional audiologists.
Medicolegal Experience:
I have been writing medicolegal reports for over 20 years, both for claimants and defendants. (Approximately 60/40 claimants/defendants in the last year). I have written approximately 30 reports per year for the last few years.
Professional Memberships:
FRCS (ENT) 1993 and FRCS Intercollegiate 1997, on specialist register since 1998.
Member of ENT Scotland and British Society of Rhinoplasty Surgeons.
