Consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgery
Biography:
Mr Mohamed El-Sayad is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery. Based in Scotland, he is a Consultant Upper Limb Surgeon with NHS Fife and has completed specialist fellowships in trauma, shoulder and elbow, and wrist and hand surgery. He holds the FRCS (Tr & Orth), the European Diploma in Hand Surgery and a Diploma in Trauma Surgery, and is a member of both the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS).
Clinical Interests:
Mr El-Sayad specialises in the assessment and treatment of conditions affecting the upper limb, with particular interests in:
- Shoulder and elbow surgery
- Wrist and hand surgery
- Upper limb trauma and fracture surgery
- Shoulder replacement surgery
- Arthroscopic (keyhole) shoulder surgery
- Rotator cuff disorders
- Shoulder instability and dislocations
- Frozen shoulder
- Tendon and ligament injuries
- Nerve compression disorders
Medicolegal Experience:
Mr El-Sayad has been providing independent medico-legal reports since 2022 and holds the Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate. He has an extensive medico-legal practice, preparing approximately 300–400 reports annually for cases across Scotland and the North of England. His work primarily covers personal injury and orthopaedic trauma, with particular expertise in injuries affecting the upper limb.His current medico-legal caseload is approximately 90% claimant and 10% defendant instructions.
