Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Biography:
Paul Jenkins is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Glasgow Royal Infirmary, of which is a former Clinical Director. He is currently the Deputy Chief of Medicine for the North Sector of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. He is also an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow. He is a former National Associate Clinical Director and National Clinical Lead for Orthopaedics at the Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD).
He has a wide experience of medicolegal reporting and has undertaken reports for both pursuer and defender, and has given evidence in court. He has provided reports in personal injury, clinical negligence, criminal and fatal accident investigations.
Following graduation from the University of Edinburgh (MBChB with Honours 2003) he undertook basic and higher orthopaedic surgical training in the South-East of Scotland. He undertook specialist fellowship training in upper limb surgery with a particular interest in conditions and trauma around the elbow. He regularly treats patients with shoulder, elbow and hand conditions and general orthopaedic trauma. While undertaking general orthopaedic trauma on call he manages a wide variety of injuries and conditions, including back and neck injuries. He also has an interest in research and was awarded an MD by The University of Edinburgh (2012). He has published over 100 peer reviewed papers and spoken at national and international conferences.
