Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Biography:

I am a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a general interest in orthopaedic trauma in all areas of the musculoskeletal system and a subspecialist interest in lower limb surgery, in particular the foot and ankle.


I provide medical expert reports for all orthopaedic musculoskeletal personal injury claims. As one of the few Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle specialists routinely undertaking medicolegal work in Scotland I also provide highly specialist expert reports on all conditions in the foot and ankle including complex injuries. I am a Fellow and a Director of the Expert Witness Institute. I am the 2025 President of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.


My personal injury medicolegal practice covers general orthopaedics and specialist lower limb pathology. I estimate that currently 80% of my instructions are from pursuing and 20% from defending solicitors. I also provide medical negligence reports. The majority of my medical negligence instructions are for specialised opinions relating to treatment of conditions of the foot and ankle. The other category of instructions I receive relate to opinions on liability with regards generally accepted standards of treatment of orthopaedic trauma conditions in other areas of the body by generalist trauma and orthopaedic surgeons, for conditions to which I have general exposure as part of my general orthopaedic trauma duties.

I am a director of Resolve Medicolegal and of the Expert Witness Institute (EWI). I have undergone recertification with the EWI and I am a fellow of the institute.
