Biography:

Dr Stephen Boyce is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Prior to this he was a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Wishaw General Hospital. He is on the General Medical Council specialist register for Emergency Medicine and Sport and Exercise Medicine and worked within the high performance sport environment at Team Sky Procycling, the Scottish Institute of Sport and the Scottish Football Association. He was part of the Team Scotland medical team at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014 , Gold Coast 2018, and Birmingham 2022 . He is the Clinical Director of Football Medicine at the University of Bath, Training Programme Director for the Scottish National Sport and Exercise Medicine training programme and lead examiner for the membership examination of the College of Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He works with FIFA as a match doctor performing this role at two Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024), the Men's, Women's and Club World Cup Finals and several other tournaments. He is a consultant appraiser for the health board and College of Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He provides independent advice for the SPSO in Emergency Medicine. He has 35 years of medical experience and has been providing medical reports relating to Emergency Department workload, musculoskeletal injury and injuries related to sport for 10 years. He is a Member of the Expert Witness Institute.
