Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon
Biography:
I, Dr. Sumona McLaughlin am a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Clinical Governance Chair at NHS Golden Jubilee, which provides a high-volume cataract service for Scotland. I was also Clinical Director for Ophthalmology there for a time.
My undergraduate training, including an intercalated BSc., was at Guy's, King's and St. Thomas's hospitals in London, where I qualified in 2001, thus bringing over 20 years experience in the field of Ophthalmology.
My postgraduate training was largely based at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow, where I also undertook a Fellowship in Cornea, ocular surface and external eye diseases.
Clinical Interests:
Cataract, Cornea, Ocular Surface and External Eye Diseases.
Medicolegal Experience:
I started Medicolegal work with Resolve in November 2023. I see, on average, two clients per week and undertake a mixture of pursuer and defender cases.
I take mostly Ophthalmology personal injury cases but have also prepared Condition & Prognosis reports.
